Noodle Stand Tokyo is located just a 1-minute walk from Harajuku station.

It is one of the most popular ramen joints in the area, and it serves a rarity: vegan ramen; but its appeal goes way beyond the small vegan community of Tokyo. Fancy meat-eating ramen experts too rave about this joint.

Vegan tantanmen

This is their amazing most popular vegan dish: the vegan tantanmen. Instead of the usual minced meat, the toppings consist of a kind of soy-based fake minced meat, cashew nuts, onions, bok choy, and hot pepper.

The creamy-textured soup has no animal product in it either. It is made of a mix of soy milk, coconut milk, and sesame oil. It has a rich and savory taste that is really outstanding, and there is a nice spicy aftertaste as well.

As for the noodles, they are excellent too! Made by a famous noodle maker in Asakusa, Tokyo, they are thick, springy, and are the perfect match for the creamy texture of the soup.

The tantanmen is already pretty spicy but if you want it to have some real punch, you can sprinkle some extra hot pepper to it!

Make sure to remember this place because this is one of the most popular restaurants with the locals around Harajuku!
