CINA New Modern Chinese
This is a great new restaurant by the Ushigoro group that is located at a 4-minute walk from the west exit of Ebisu station. The Ushigoro group's restaurant are famous for their delectable meat dishes so you'll, of course, be treated to some nice meat dishes here too. But really, this is an outstanding restaurant for its original modern Chinese cuisine.
First-timers should get the course!
If you got there for the first time, you might be overwhelmed by all the unknown items on the menu. Better leave it to the chef's and take the course to get a taste of a little bit of everything from salad entrees to desserts. The course has 11 delectable servings.
Beautiful and tasty
This is duck meat inspired by Szechuanese cuisine is cooked sous-vide and is served in a slightly spicy sauce. It has some cilantro and nuts as a topping. The sous-vide cooked duck is super tender and packed with savoury umami. And what to say of the presentation? Beautiful!
This is a kind of crab omelette in a savoury broth. The rich eggs used for it are special ones that come from Tokushima prefecture. The omelette part is fluffy and goes really well with the soup.
The artistic sense of the chef is on display with this jet-black shrimp dish with gnocchi on the rim of the bowl. The black colour is from squid ink.
Next, come the spring rolls! These are made with seasonal ingredients so what you get depends on what is available and fresh. On this day, we were served some with some conger eel and burdock filling.
You'll want to go again
This berry sauce pork dish was amazing! It had the perfect combination of sweetness, sour taste, and savouriness.
With this A5 Wagyu beef dish, we can sense that Ushigoro is behind this. As always, their meat dishes are the best.
As for the rice, you get this interesting stir-fry made with fragrant Chinese soy sauce. The pinenuts in it are a nice addition that adds a special accent.
Lastly, for dessert, we got served some oolong tea pudding. The perfectly smooth texture, the slightly bitter taste of the oolong tea couple with the caramel-like sweetness was the perfect way to end this meal.
Chinese restaurants are everywhere in Tokyo, but this is not a standard place. It's worth the go for a delicious meal and if you want something unique that will give you a different perspective on Chinese cuisine.
