Yamatoya Otojiro: delicious & affordable seafood izakaya near Kanda

The Kanda area has a lot of good restaurants, and Yamatoya Otojiro, a seafood izakaya, is definitely one of them. Eat lots of fresh sashimi and drink of a couple of cups of sake and it shouldn't cost you more than ¥4,000.

Yamatoya Otojiro is a popular seafood izakaya located a 3-minute walk from Kanda station.

It's pretty spacious with 56 seats so you can go there in large groups for a fun night of drinking delicious sake along with some super fresh seafood served both raw or cooked.

During the day, the izakaya used to have this crazy all-you-can-eat sushi and sashimi buffet for just ¥1,500. It was the talk of the town for a while but now, unfortunately, they're not open during lunchtime anymore. Still, the izakaya has a solid reputation for its fish.

You can be sure that you'll be treated to the best seasonal catches whenever you go. The owner is always keeping his devout followers informed through his Facebook page about what fish is being served at the moment.

They have assortment plates with all kinds of fish that are about ¥1,800 (for two people). It's a good way to start your evening! The fish in them is always the best and freshest.

You can then order a variety of grilled fish and sashimi in orders that are about ¥700 each.
