Get a bang-for-the-buck soba noodle meal at Sobakiri Mimaki near Akasaka-Mitsuke station. They're one of the best in the city for their price range, serving a variety of delicious sets under ¥1,000.
Their house-made noodle is top-notch, made with premium buckwheat grown in Hokkaido. It comes as an accompaniment with almost everything you order. You can have it cold, hot, in a soup or on a separate plate with some dipping sauce along with it.
The tsuyu sauce they use to make their soup and dipping sauce is simply amazing and sets the restaurant apart. Made the traditional way with real fish flakes and soy sauce, It's left to mature for a full two weeks to allow for the full rich umami taste to develop.
