Welcome to Matsumoto! Here Is a List of Restaurants You Should Try

Matsumoto (松本) is in Nagano Prefecture.It sits at the foot of the Japanese Alps, in the heart of Japan. It is a beautiful city with most famous for Matsumoto castle and the city is also convenient to have trips to Kamikochi and Norikura where you can enjoy hiking seeing amazing views. Come visit Matsumoto and try some great food in these popular restaurants!

1. Kobayashi (こばやし)

Less than 10 mins walk from Matsumoto station, this restaurant is loved by both travelers and locals. They serves "soba", a kind of the Japanese noodles, which you should try in Matsumoto because this city is famous for the noodle.

Their homemade soba taste amazing and also come in nice presentation. They offer variety of soba, but the one with tempura is must-try. The soba are 700-1500 yen and English menu is available.

2. Sakura (佐蔵)

This is a popular ramen restaurant in Matsumoto with good reviews.

The ramen soup has a lot of flavors and the noodles are nicely cooked. They have seafood ramen as well as pork one if you want. You should order their gyoza (pan-fried dumplings) as sides of your ramen too!

3. Pizza Verde Matsumoto

Pizza Verde is a small yet famous Italian restaurant close to Matsumoto castle. The owner went to Italy to learn to cook Italian food.

The wood-fired pizzas are must-try. Margerita is 1300 yen topped with fresh cheese, basil and tomato sauce. They also serves Italian beer and other Italian dishes. English menu is available.

4. Five Horn (ファイブホルン)

If you are looking for a cafe to have a break, this place is the one. Located at Parco shopping mall near Matsumoto station, they offers variety of homemade cakes.

Cakes are around 500 yen and they always have seasonal ones you should check out. The inside decoration and presentations of the food are cute. You can take out too if you want.
