Cheap Beer and Chicken Yakiniku from 9:00 am at Stand Hattori [Osaka]

Osaka City

Looking for a "deep" spot to grab a delicious bite in Osaka? You've come to the right article! Today we'll be introducing a new restaurant that serves chicken yakiniku (not yakitori) and drinks from 9:00 in the morning!

Feel free to follow favy!

Deep Spots of Osaka: Stand Hattori

Hattori is a newly opened restaurant near Dobutsuenmae Station in Osaka. It's a standing-room-only restaurant / bar that's open from 9:00 am and specializes in chicken yakiniku. That means that you grill your own chicken pieces on a small gas-fired grill at the counter, just like yakiniku.

Chicken Yakiniku is actually a specialty of Matsuzaka City in nearby Mie prefecture, where Hattori's owner has his roots. According to him, In Matsuzaka, chicken yakitori is even more popular than beef yakitori! This is quite surprising given Matsuzaka beef's reputation as some of the highest quality wagyu in the country.
The drinks start flowing as soon as the shop opens at 9:00 am! There's even a モーニング set that includes one drink and one food item for just ¥500. Drinking from so early in the morning may seem a bit strange, but the shop is apparently busy all day, sometimes selling out of chicken by the early afternoon!
The chicken is ordered by the plate, most of which are just ¥430 yen. These are the kind of prices I'm talking about!
The meat is prepared fresh every morning and comes slathered with red miso, which is apparently a Mie prefecture thing (I thought it was just Aichi). Coating the chicken with the miso sauce before grilling it gives it a great base flavor that is delicious enough to eat without any further toppings.
There's also a red miso tare that is wonderfully sweet with a hint of spice. For those who prefer it a bit spicer, there are chili flakes that can be added for an extra kick.

Chicken and beer is really one of the classic combinations that never fails to satisfy. As far as eating it for breakfast? That's totally up to you. I found it to be a great way to get the weekend started!
スタンド 八とり is one of those great local spots that I could see myself going to frequently if it was in my neighborhood. I highly recommend checking it out!
The shop is quite close to Dobutsuenmae Station's exit number 9 and is unmissable thanks to the bright red entryway.
Happy eating!
I live in west Tokyo and spend most of my time thinking about food or going bouldering.
