A New Ramen Spot in Yokohama

'Japan Food Hall' was opened in October of 2019 inside Yokohama Hammerhead shopping center at Minato Mirai on the water. Inside the food hall are 5 exciting ramen shops, some of which are brand new and others which are opening in Yokohama for the first time.
The 5 ramen shops currently residing in the food hall are:
-'Shodai' serving ramen with complex and deep broth.
-'Noodle Kitchen Ajisai' serving Hakata shio ramen with a base of konbu, pork, and chicken.
-'Mendokoro Shiraka Basanso' serving Sapporo-style miso ramen.
-'K's Collection Karamiso Sanmamen' a brand-new ramen shop serving a creative bowl of spicy miso ramen.
-'Hakata Issei' a brand-new ramen shop serving classic-style Hakata tonkotsu ramen.

You can't go wrong with any of these delicious shops, but below we will take a closer look at the two brand new ramen shops; K's Collection and Hakata Issei.

K's Collection

K's Collection is a new ramen shop started by the owner of a famous ramen shop in east Tokyo called 'Chibakiya.' The featured bowl of ramen on the menu here is the ¥900 'Karamiso Sanmamen' which is the owner's take on a local Yokohama ramen type called sanmamen.
The soup has a spicy miso base that has a wonderful balance of spice and umami and goes wonderfully with the chewy noodles and veggies in the bowl. Just one bite and you'll be addicted!

Hakata Issei

'Hakata Issei' is a new shop produced by the same group behind the popular Tokyo ramen shop 'Ramen Keisuke.' The standard 'Tonkotsu Ramen' for ¥820 is true to traditional Hakata ramen and has amazing umami and scent created during the very long boiling time. The bowl comes with two pieces of beautiful chashu on top and is everything that you'd hope for in a really good bowl of Hakata ramen. A spicy version can also be ordered for ¥980 that is mixed with a special house spice blend.
Next time you're looking for something tasty to eat in Yokohama, head to the new Hammerhead shopping center located right on a pier in the Minato Mirai! A whole hall of delicious ramen restaurants awaits.
