As you walk around the cities in Japan, you might encounter lots of gyudon (a bowl of rice with beef on top) chain stores. It is very popular among business men because you get satisfying experience of gyudon at really cheap price. So here's the list of places you can go and try gyudon!

Yoshinoya (吉野家)

Yoshinoya is one of the biggest gyudon chain store in Japan! Their gyudon is available from ¥380, which is super cheap. They use selected beef, onions, sauce and rice, which makes their gyudon outstanding and popular for more than 100 years.

Their first store opened in Tsukiji, where the famous fish market is (it's still present!), and their aim was to provide a "quick, good and cheap" gyudon to busy customers around the fish market area. More info can be found on the link below!

Sukiya (すき家)

Sukiya is also a popular gyudon chain store in Japan, originated in Yokohama, Kanagawa (neighborhood prefecture of Tokyo). Their popular menu is their gyudon and curry, and they use beef produced in Australia.

Their Kimchi gyudon is a must try menu that has been loved by lots of Japanese people. They also have a great variation of size. Their price range is around ¥290~730. Their well-balanced gyudon will make you want to try more. You can also choose toppings and customize your own gyudon!

Matsuya (松屋)

Matsuya is another popular gyudon place in Japan. They have different kinds of menu such as curry, donburi (a bowl of rice with toppings), teishoku (Japanese style meal sets), udon, breakfast menu, etc. Their gyudon is called gyu-meshi (beef rice), which is available from ¥240~500.

Matsuya created their teishoku and curry menu for students and business men, so ever since they established they have been serving freshly made gyudon, teishoku and curry for almost 50 years.
