Best Places to Have Chai Tea in Tokyo

Chai is a deliciously flavourful drink that is good all year round. It is comforting in the winter and, yet refreshing in the summer if you have it cold. Here are the best places to have chai tea in Tokyo. These places are all local tea and coffee shops with a great ambience where you can bring a book and relax by yourself, or go with friends and sit around and chat.

Chai Break

Chai Break is a lovely little cafe about 8 minutes away from Kichijoji station, very close to the entrance of Inokashira park. This place is lovely in it of itself, but given its proximity to the park, it makes it even better. You can come here to have a cup of homemade chai and sit around in the cozy atmosphere, and then you can have a nice stroll around the park and enjoy the nice weather and greenery. They have many types of chai tea for around ¥600-800 (steamed milk, spicy, frappé, etc.) You can also try some of their lovely sweets to try alongside your chai tea.

Deus Ex Machina

Deux Ex Machina is a very cool space with a gallery, and a retail space. They are located about 7 minutes by foot from Meijijingu-Mae station, or about 10 minutes from Gaienmae station.
They serve coffee and cakes until the evening, and then it becomes a bar!
You should try their dirty chai or their iced chai! Yum! :)

Perch by Woodberry Coffee Roasters

Perch is by Woodberry Coffee, and they are located in Ebisuminami, close to Daikanyama station. It is a tiny café with a lovely ambience and a mean cup of joe! You should try their masala chai though, it's delicious! They also have some great sweets to go with your chai!
You can sit inside or take it to go. Daikanyama is a lovely neighbourhood to walk around in and the Tsutaya is a must-stop if you're in the area.

February Café

February Cafe is a very trendy place located in Kanarimon, near Asakusa station. It's a great place to come chill, have a nice cup of hot chai and some scones. It's a very comfortable and nice setting. You can sit outside as well!

Turret Coffee

Turret Coffee is very close to the fish market. So you can go there before heading to the head market or after to unwind a bit after. It's a small cafe where you can sit down and have the best drink ever.
Their chai latte is awesome and is only ¥440. They have some Japanese sweets as well to try alongside your drink.

Streamer Coffee Company

Streamer Cafe is located in Shibuya, and is a very comfortable cafe with a wooden feel. You will want to come by yourself to enjoy your delicious drink or with friends, to chat and relax. Their chai latte is delicious, and have you tried their sweets?
