Recommended Restaurants Near Osaka Castle!

Osaka Castle is one of the most popular attractions in Osaka, with many tourists visiting every day. Luckily, there are some great restaurants nearby for grabbing a tasty bite to eat! Here are 6 of the best.

Osaka Castle

Osaka Castle (Osaka-jo) is one of the most famous landmarks in Japan, and is Osaka's premier tourist attraction. It is a castle built in 1597 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and is modeled after the Himeji Castle built by Oda Nobunaga. This castle was attacked and destroyed several times, so the current castle is a reconstruction finished in 1995. You can go inside the building, and the view from the top floor is also fascinating.

It takes around an hour to get to Osaka Castle from Kansai International Airport, either by train or expressway. From Shin-Osaka station, it takes less than 20 minutes. You can get off at either Tanimachi 4-chome station, Osakajo Koen station. The Osaka Castle is located inside the Osaka Castle Park, and is open from 9:00 to 17:00 pm.

It is most recommended to go in the morning, and eat lunch nearby, so that you have enough time to tour around the rest of the city in the afternoon. However, you can also go towards the closing hour, and eat dinner nearby the closest station. Here are some recommended restaurants nearby the castle that you can go for either lunch or dinner, as these restaurants are located close to the castle and to the train station!

Friendship

Friendship is a restaurant located right across Osaka Castle park, and 1 minute away from Morinomiya station. They serve inexpensive Japanese food at this restaurant, such as curry rice for ¥750 or omurice (omelet rice) for ¥800. They have various fried dishes such as tonkatsu or deep-fried shrimp. During lunch time, they also have lunch sets that are very popular, and gets sold out pretty quickly. A good place for an inexpensive, quick bite after a tour around Osaka Castle!

Takahiro Ramen

Takahiro Ramen is actually located within the grounds of Osaka Castle Park! It's a quick walk from Osaka Jo Koen Station, so is convenient for a quick lunch or dinner before or after visiting the castle.

The specialty here is a rich tonkotsu ramen called 'Kasumi,' which features awesome rare chashu, menma, yuzum and green onions as toppings. The basic bowl is just ¥750, and you can add additional toppings such as an egg or extra chashu for an extra charge. Osaka isn't known for its ramen, but the Kasumi ramen at Takahiro Ramen is very delicious and worth a stop!

Kushikatsu Oide Oide

Kushikatsu Oide Oide is a fried skewer restaurant located 2 minutes away from Morinomiya station and within walking distance from Osaka Castle. Fried Skewers(kushiage) are famous Osaka street cuisine, and is something you should try when you"re in Osaka! This restaurant is only open at night, but you can have an inexpensive dinner here, around ¥2000~¥2999 per person. They have set menus to enjoy different types of fried skewers, or a la carte which you can order your choice of skewers. One fried skewer is only ¥100.

Takoyaki Doraku Wanaka

Takoyaki Doraku Wanaka is a famous Osaka takoyaki shop that has its original store in the iconic Dotonbori area. Luckily, there are now many shops across the city, including one inside Osaka Castle Park. Takoyaki is one of Osaka's soul foods, so you'd better try it at least once while you're in the city! Doraku Wanaka's takoyaki is beautifully crisp on the outside and perfectly gooey on the inside, just the way great takoyaki should be. The shop also offers a couple of other dishes including yakisoba and okonomiyaki, meaning you can try more than one Osaka specialty while you're there!

Nishihara

Nishihara is a restaurant located 5 minutes away from Tanimachi Yonchome station, and within walking distance from the Osaka Castle Park. They serve fresh eel rice bowls (una don) and there are many repeaters that love the eel served at this restaurant. A regular size Una Don is ¥3,300 and a little pricey, but if you want to try good quality unagi, it may be worth it! It is a very small restaurant with only 9 seats, so you can enjoy the calm, local atmosphere at this restaurant.

Shuhari

Shuhari is a soba noodle restaurant located 3 minutes away from Tanimachi Yonchome. It should take less than 10 minutes to get to the restaurant from the castle. There are 40 seats in the store, but has a very calm and classy atmosphere. You can enjoy delicious soba noodles and tempura here, with a variety of choices on the menu. They also have other small Japanese dishes that will go well with Japanese beer, sake and shochu served at this restaurant.
