Go Go Curry
Go Go Curry is one of the most popular Japanese curry chain restaurants in the country. Their curry is Kanazawa-style curry, a type of Japanese curry that originated in Kanazawa, in Ishikawa Prefecture. Kanazawa curry is richer and more creamy than typical Japanese curry and usually topped with shredded cabbage, pork cutlet, and extra sauce on the top.
If you see the yellow storefront with the gorilla, that's the one!
How to order
First, you need to buy a ticket for your curry at the vending machine found inside of the shop by the entrance. Some of the restaurants have English menus. If not, the machine shows the pictures of each curry, so it's not difficult to get what you want.
You can choose how big a bowl you want and which toppings you want.
After you get your ticket, pass it to the staff and choose a table wherever you want. Your curry will be served quite quickly!
The most popular menu is pork katsu curry, which is a plateful of rice and rich and creamy curry topped with shredded cabbage and crunchy deep-fried pork. They have 4 sizes (730-780-890-990 yen) and the largest one is surprisingly big, so try only when you are starving.
They also have chicken cutlets, sausages, and ebi fry (deep fried shrimp) as toppings instead of pork katsu. Or, you can get them all in one plate! This is what dreams are made of!
My favourite is the one with cheese as a topping. There is no way that you won't like this one. More toppings can be added like boiled eggs, extra katsu, sausages, and shrimps.
I have to introduce this crazy curry at Go Go Curry. It's the giant curry called "world champion" (2550 yen) that weighs a whopping 2.5 kg. If you are a big eater and want to have a crazy experience, give it a try!
Now, it's time to look for a Go Go Curry near you!
Go Go Curry serves such reasonably-priced and tasty Kanazawa-style Japanese curry! Once you try their curry, you will be so addicted! The combination of rich curry sauce and crunchy katsu is unbeatable.
