Kagurazaka Matsuri

Kagurazaka Matsuri is a summer festival held in Tokyo! Kagurazaka has Edo's refined atmosphere, and it is well known as a Little Tokyo and Little Paris, as it has a very unique atmosphere.
Kagurazaka Matsuri is very popular for the great number of Yatai (food stalls) that they offer! They also have a place where they dress you in a Yukata too. They also have an energetic Awaodori, a traditional Japanese summer dance, performance on a slope too! This festival also aims to raise awareness and support the East Japan Earthquake that happened in 2011 too.

How to enjoy Kagurazaka Matsuri

It has two parts of the festival: From July 26th to 27th, "Ho-zuki market" will take place, and "Awaodori Taikai" is happening on the 28th to 29th of July as a Part 2.
If you wear a Yukata to the festival, you might be able to get a special service at certain stores there!

Part 1: Ho-zuki Market

Ho-zuki is a seasonal plant that is very popular for its vibrant reddish orange color and lantern-shaped appearance. You can purchase a pot if you want too! Only for ¥1,500 per pot.
Kagurazaka Matsuri is very famous for its number of food stalls and game booths! There is going to be so many options to choose from, you might be overwhelmed, but don't worry, you can check the link below and see the list of popular summer festival food! Kagurazaka is known as a foodie town, so their food stalls have lots of delicious food provided by famous stores in Kagurazaka! They also have mojito, sparkling wine, galette, grilled oyster, and more fancy drinks and food too. You only get to try their food stalls for first two days, so keep that in your mind!

Along with their popular food stalls, they also have lots of popular game booths available too! This is called "Yo-yo Tsuri", literally meaning Yo-yo fishing. Yo-yo is a small balloon and you get to bring back the number of Yo-yos you get. You try to fish those Yo-yo with a string made of paper until it is torn apart.
Kingyo-tsuri (goldfish scooping game) is a very popular game for children at summer festivals in Japan. There is a pool where goldfish are swimming, and you will get a scoop-like tool that is made of really thin paper. The aim of this game is to scoop as much goldfish as you can without having the paper torn apart. You have to be quick and efficient. You can bring back goldfish that you scooped!

Part 2: Awaodori performances!
