Omagari Fireworks

Fireworks festival held at Omagari is recognized as one of the major fireworks festivals in Japan! Ever since it started in 1910, it is enjoyed as fireworks competition where you get to watch different kinds of amazing fireworks at once! They will be holding two fireworks during the day: Day time fireworks and night time fireworks. Although its start time is in the evening, getting there as early as possible is strongly recommended.

How to get there

It takes around a 30 minute by walking from JR Akita Shinkansen Omagari station. People generally come watch their majestic fireworks by car, but since it is going to be overcrowded with lots of people, it might take hours to get home due to heavy traffic. Plus, although they have a huge parking space, the spot will be decided by draw, so it is recommended to go there by using Shinkansen.

How to enjoy Omagari Fireworks

Omagari Fireworks is held at the best location ever - with mountains in the background and the river in the forefront, you can enjoy the collaboration of art of light and nature.
As mentioned earlier, Omagari Fireworks has three different parts: Day time fireworks, fireworks that goes all the way up to 300m in the sky, and creative fireworks. Day time fireworks only takes place in Omagari fireworks, so you don't want to miss it! Their fireworks are all dynamic, which includes fireworks like "Wide Starmine", which is a kind of fireworks that is set off consecutively.
If you want to get the best view, you might want to consider purchasing a ticket for seats. For public, they have three different seats available: a box seat for ¥23,000 or ¥15,000 and chair seat for ¥3,000. However, due to its popularity and large amount of people wanting the view, whether you get the seat or not will be determined by draw. The application period for this year was held during June, so it is recommended to keep on checking their webiste!
They also have huge Yatai (food stalls) too! It is mostly located at Omonogawa Kasenjiki-undo Kouen (park), where the viewing site is. They have a variety of options from standard Yatai food to Akita's speciality food like Yokote-yakisoba. It will be really crowded before the fireworks start, so being there early is recommended.
Akita's popular ice cream, "Baba Hera ice cream" is also a must-try!

Enjoy the most satisfying fireworks festival experience at Omagari Fireworks!
