Only In Japan! Food Vending Machine Restaurant!

Japan has a plethora of quirky restaurants, shops, and hot spots. This vending machine cafeteria restaurant in Gunma prefecture, about 2 hours from Tokyo, is one of a kind! It'll definitely make an interesting day trip. You'll be surprised with what you can order!

Jihanki Shokudo - Vending Machine Cafeteria

Just a couple hours north west of Tokyo is Jihanki Shokudo, a one of a kind vending machine restaurant. What's more is there is no staff! Just you and the machines! The restaurant is located in Gunma prefecture - famous for it's many hot springs, beautiful scenery, and ski areas. Well worth the day trip alone!
Jihanki Shokudo is actually pretty famous in Japan with a steady following on their twitter page. Popular with people touring around on motorbike during the summer, road trippers to Gunma prefecture, or just people looking for a unique experience!

What kind of food can you buy?

They have a number of vending machines serving up tempura udon, ramen, hamburgers, toasted sandwiches, drinks and a few souvenirs!

Tempura Udon

Tempura udon cost 350 yen and takes about 1 minute to cook! Put your money in, push the left button and wait for the timer to finish. Your meal is then ready!

Char siu ramen

Char siu ramen costs 400 yen and is ordered from the same machine as udon - just push the right-side button. Wait about a minute, and voila, your ramen is ready!

3 types of hamburgers!

They have 3 types of burgers, double cheese, beef and bacon, and spicy mexican, all 300 yen. Though they do change some of the burgers sometimes, the cheese burger is usually the staple here.
This was a limited time offer -Japanese curry flavoured burger!
The next McDonald's? Coke and a cheeseburger!

2 types of toasted sandwiches

There's 2 types of toasted sandwiches, ham and cheese, and bacon and mayo. Sometimes they change it up and have tomato, cheese and basil! Both are 250 yen and take 45 seconds to toast inside the machine!

Even the chopstick holders are unique!
