Nakano Broadway: An Otaku Heaven!

Many people know about Akihabara being the holy land for otaku (geeek) culture, but there is another place where you can get a feel for this wonderful world of anime, manga and Japanese idol worship. The place is called Nakano Broadway. Even if you are not an anime fan, the place is so unique and weird that it is totally worth taking a stroll through!

Feel free to follow favy!

Nakano Broadway

Nakano Broadway is a shopping complexe located a few steps away from the Nakano Station (short train ride away from Shinjuku). Take the north exit and you will soon notice the huge entrance right in front of you. The place is extremely popular with anime and manga fans, as well as people seeking Japanese idol goods.

Broadway is home to one of Tokyo's largest stores selling otaku culture-related goods! The place is called Manadarake. It has 12 stores in the complex specializing in collectible toys, manga, DVDs and so many other interesting goods for the geeks and not-so geeks alike!
For Gundam fans this is a must-go place! Explore the many floors of the complexe and you'll find really cool, sometimes new, sometimes vintage collectible figurines.
For people who are into Japanese dorama (tv series) and idols, this is also a cool place to go! You can find all kinds of idol goods such as these uchiwa (a type of fans) with the picture of your favorite pop star on it.
Nakano Broadway is also a hot spot for watches!
Of course you can find loads of Pokemon-related goods. Stop by at an arcade and have a go at the crane game to get your stuffed pikachu.
There are also some interesting exhibitions in small art galleries, often showcasing pop contemporary art.

Nakano Broadway is definitely worth the visit for a uniquely Japanese experience in otaku land. Besides, Nakano is an overall very interesting neighborhood so make sure to explore the surroundings aswell! Looking for some ramen in Nakano or cafes in Nakano? See the links below!
