Seiryuken is the most famous ramen shop in Hakodate, located in 5 minutes walk away from Hakodate station. It is a small family-run restaurant, but there is always a long line.

The most popular menu is Shio ramen. Shio means salt in Japanese and shio ramen is a type of local ramen in Hakodate. Their shio ramen is incredibly good. Especially people love the clear soup which is light yet flavorful and well balanced. It is only 580 yen.

2. Hakodate Ramen Kamome (函館らーめん かもめ)

If you are a seafood lover, Kamome is the place to go. Located Just 3 minutes walk from Hakodate station.

They are well known for the ramen menu with fresh seafood. Hakodate has great seafood and they put such high-quality seafood on their miso ramen. The special "Kamome ramen" (1150 yen) is topped with crab, shrimp, squid, sea urchin, and scallops. The most luxurious ramen ever.

3. Ajisai (あじさい)

Local popular ramen chain shop specialized in Hakodate ramen (shio ramen). There are 4 shops in Hakodate, including inside Hakodate station. The first shop is near Goryokaku-koen-mae station.

Their signature menu, shio ramen consists of mild broth soup, smooth noodles, and some toppings like slices of tender roast pork (750 yen). A lot of chopped green onions add the nice texture and flavor to the ramen.

4. Gomen (豪ーめん)

Are you starving? Then try Gomen, and you will get satisfied. Located around 10 minutes walk from Shinboricho station.

They serve big ramen bowls with a lot of toppings. They are also reasonably priced from 750 yen. You can choose from a variety of manu, such as shio (salt), soy sauce, miso, and spicy soup.

5. Jimotoya (地元家)

Jimotoya is a spacious and cozy ramen shop located in 10 minutes walk away from Goryokaku station.

They are specializing in ebi (shrimp) ramen. Their ramen soup uses the rich broth of shrimp. When you slurp the thin noodles, you will be impressed by the flavor. Although they are a ramen shop, their curry and rice also made from shrimp broth is popular too.
