A Guide To Farmers' Markets in Tokyo!

Although the mega city of Tokyo is pretty much built up and paved with concrete on every meter of surface it has, you can still find farmers selling their freshly grown fruits, vegetables and local products in the very heart of the city! Here are some nice farmers' markets you should check out!

Feel free to follow favy!

United Nations University Farmers' Market

This farmers' market is located right in front of the UN University main building in Shibuya. It is possibly the most popular in Tokyo. You'll find a variety of products, a lot of them organic sold directly by the farmers themselves.

Hours: 10:00-16:00 Sunday
Address: 5-53-70 Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo (located near Shibuya Station)
Asisde from the fresh vegetables, get yourself some of these colorful Japanese pickles!
Tasty foods and freshly pressed fruit juices are of course sold from stalls. Grabbing a lunch here would definitely be a good idea!

Earth Day Market Of Yoyogi Park

This farmers' market is held only about once a month but it is usually held in the so popular and touristy Yoyogi Park. It is organized by an NPO which has for mission of bringing organic, enironmentally-fiendly and fair trade goods to Tokyo.

Address: 2-2-1 Jinnan, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo (10 minute walk from Harajuku Station)
Unfortunately the website is only in Japanese but the date of the next event is the one in bold characters below the picture of the Market. Note that the event is called off in case of rain.
You can buy there all kinds of organic goods, cold pressed juices, etc.
You'll also find here ethnic clothing and Japanese traditionally crafted items such as these slippers.
There are also stalls and foods trucks so it's a good idea to grab something here for cheap and eat it in the park.

Taiyo No Marche

Taiyo No Marche, or The Sun Market is a surprinsingly big farmers' market with some 100 stalls. It is held near the Kachidoki Station in the Tsukishima Second Children's Park.

Hours: 10:00-17:00 (April-September), 10:00-16:00 (October-March) on second Saturday and Sunday of the month.
You'll find some really tasty healthy lunch plates here!
And some craft soaps among so many other nice products!

Yebisu Marche

Ebisu Marche is a small but quite nice farmers' market held on the Ebisu Garden Place every Sunday. The concept here is to provide organic and natural products.

Address: 4-20 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo (five minute walk from the Ebisu Station)
You'll find your fresh fruits and vegetables here.
Craft miso
And baked sweets!

Lastly...
