Konpira Chaya (こんぴら茶屋)
Konpira Chaya, located 3 minutes walk from Meguro station, is a very famous udon restaurant established in 1983.
The restaurant is small yet has a nice atmosphere, with Japanese-style interior decorations.
Before you eat...

You need to wear a paper apron so you don't spatter your clothes with the curry soup.
Ordered the most popular menu item "beef curry udon"
Beef curry udon; 1100 yen
The dish came with the tempting smell of curry. It was topped with chopped green onions and fish cake.

The soup was very rich. It is made with seafood stock and grated vegetables that are simmered together, which makes it more flavorful. It had tender beef and onions.
The udon noodles are made in the restaurant, they were nicely smooth and chewy, and coated with the rich curry soup. It was the best combination ever.
Toppings
You can add a kick to your udon with the spice called "shichimi" (white label) and "ichimi" (red label) on the table.
If you love spicy food like me, you will love it!
They also had a "tororo konbu" for topping. It is made of seaweed and makes the soup sticky.
After the udon...

They suggested to us to put rice into the left-over curry soup and it sounded very tempting... So we tried!
Yes, it was amazing. It became like a risotto. And it was awesome!
Lastly
Just one bite, and I understood why it's so popular! You should try the incredible beef curry udon when you are around Meguro, Tokyo!
