The most recommended Okonomiyaki at “Nami”is a batter filled with a variety of ingredients. Enjoy the delicious Okonomiyaki after pouring the special sauce and mayonnaise for a finishing touch!

“Akaoni Ikebukuro Branch” (Hiroshima Style)

A two-minute walk from the 39th exit of Ikebukuro Station will bring you to this venue.
Here comes the Hiroshima style of Okonomiyaki!! This is one of the two biggest styles of Okonomiyaki along with the Osaka style. The walls are decorated with the goods of Hiroshima Carp, a baseball team in Hiroshima, and they help accentuate a real atmosphere of Hiroshima.
The chef at this restaurant is very particular about the quality of the cabbages they use for their recipe. Those cabbages are once boiled to maximize its sweet flavour. Mixed with the batter containing cabbages are the noodles that have been sent directly from Hiroshima. You can enjoy a real atmosphere of Hiroshima with both the restaurant and the menus.

“Nampu, Ikebukuro Ekimae Store” (Himeji Style)

You can get to this restaurant with only a one minute walk from the 39th exit of Ikebukuro Station.
”Nampu” has another restaurant on Sunshine 60 Street, and this is the second branch. This is where you can enjoy tasting Doro-yaki, which is quite rare in Tokyo. By the way, what is Doro-yaki?

https://r.gnavi.co.jp/cjayx35c0000/
Doro-yaki is a type of street food in Himeji and it is slightly different from Okonomiyaki and Monja-yaki. Doro-yaki is cooked at 572°F quickly. It is eaten by dipping the doro-yaki into the dashi (broth).

“Kamon-tei”(Kobe Style)

After walking for one minute from the East Gate of Ikebukuro Station, you will arrive at amon-tei.¨
This is the Kobe style following the Himeji style. Though the two cities are located inside the same Hyogo Prefecture, the characters of these two recipes are totally different. Nagata-yaki is a style of Okonomiyaki you should have in this restaurant. So what is Nagata-yaki?

Compared to the previous style of Doro-yaki, this Nagata-yaki is much thinner. It looks like a style of Okonomiyaki with some wings and has a crispy texture.

“Osaka Ikuno Momotarou” (Modern-Yaki)

This restaurant is located inside Seibu Department Store in Ikebukuro.
This restuarant specializes in the recipes of the Osaka style Okonomiyaki. Of course you can order standard Okonomiyaki dishes, but we recommend that you taste the modern mix Okonomiyaki, which athletes and baseball players are addicted to.

Modern-yaki uses fried Chinese noodles in their recipe. Some restaurants also use Udon noodles. This recipe is basically noodles added to the Kansai style Okonomiyaki, and it is said that the difference between the Hiroshima style and Osaka only lies in whether the Okonomiyaki is in double fold or mixed when the batter is cooked.

“Shakura” (Okonomi Kouji Yaki)

A seven-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station will get you to this restaurant.
This is where you can enjoy the Osaka style of Okonomiyaki. Their original Okonomi Kouji Yaki is a special recipe that has been featured in the media, such as in TV programs and magazines.

This recipe is prepared by using Shiokoji (salt malted rice for seasoning) for the base, which creates a soft texture and becomes a good seasoning. They also use Shiokoji in other snack menus for alcoholic beverages.
