Craft Beer & Gastronomy in Old-town Tokyo

There's plenty of craft beer pubs popping in Tokyo at the moment but most don't have the kind of charm that comes with Beer Pub Ishii. Situated in the oldtown Tokyo district of Yanesen, you not only have the choice of three different high-quality Japanese craft beers, hearty meals, and a mouthwatering Sunday roast, but it's the perfect place to go for a weekend stroll.

Feel free to follow favy!

A Deliteful Gastropub In the Heart of Oldtown Yanesen, Tokyo

Beer Pub Ishii is located in the heart of the Yanesen area, a 15 minute train ride from Tokyo. It encompasses all the feelings of oldtown Tokyo and is barely the width of a car. Lined with prewar homes, Yanesen is the collective name for Tokyo’s Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi neighborhoods and the perfect place to escape some of the downtown crowds commonly found in tourist hot spots. A lot of the houses here survived the US bombing during World War II with a few buildings being listed as national Cultural Properties.

The pub opened up in April 2013, on Yomisedori in the Yanaka neighborhood. Originally serving Japanese craft beer, spirits and snacks, the pub grew a little more fancy and began to offer much more healthier and heartier fares!

It's the perfect little spot to stop by with some friends and enjoy a traditional English-style pub.

Craft beer in Tokyo

They offer four different daily brews and only Japanese craft beers. With three rotating and a permanent Kirin Heartland Lager on tap your options are endless - as when one of our rotating beers runs out, it’s replaced with a new and different keg. Always different beers available whenever you drop by by. Everything from lagers and pale ales, to porters and imperial stouts (and everything in between).

If you know a little bit of Japanese or are a Google Translate master you can find out what's available by checking their Twitter feed or Facebook page.

Food you would drink for!

Beer Pub Ishii has a few regular dishes on the menu, including confit, rillettes, pork, sausages, tortilla español, taco rice and the popular fish and chips.

The menu changes daily depending on what’s seasonal and fresh. Drop by on Sunday's for thier special Sunday Roasts!
To get here, it's a 5 minute walk from JR Nippori Station or a 6 minute walk from Sendagi station (Chiyoda Metro line). Prices are pretty decent for what you get here but budget for around 3000 yen for a few drinks and some food.
