Cheap Yakiniku Around Takadanobaba Station: 5 Places Worth The Go!

You're doing "baba aruki" (walking around the Takadanobaba Station) and you eventually get a craving for grilled meat but you're not sure where to go for good yakiniku for under 3,000 yen or so. Recognize yourself in this situation? If so, the following information will be of tremendous benefit!

Hayami

Hayami is at about 200 meters to the south of the Takadanobaba Station along the Yamanote Line railroad. It's a superb place (among the best rated online) that serves thick pieces of succulent meat! You have many choices of plates that are about 800 yen. Try here the kalbi (korean bbq rib), "hire" or "harami" cuts! The side menu includes really nice kimchi and a popular dish called "gyu meshi" (980 yen) which is beef meat on a bowl of rice. You can just ask here for the chef's recommendation and you'll get the days best cuts! Drinks are about 500 yen.

Yakiniku Futago

Located at a 2 minute walk from the station, Futago is a a popular chain restaurant. You should try the "hami detai" (wants to protrude out) harami (1,680 yen) and kalbi, pieces of meat so big that that they'll cover your whole grill and a little more! One piece of those and you should get your protein intake for the next two days! They are not just huge put also really delicious. If you are not sure what to order, just take the assortment of six kinds of meat for 1,980 yen and you should have more than enough for one person. You can also get black wagyuu here. They have an interesting sour drinks menu too. Try the Garigarikun sour for 480 yen!

Emma

3 minutes away from the station, this place specializes in horumon (tripes) but you can also order plenty of regular delicious yakiniku for cheap. Most of the menu items here are below 500 yen, so you can easily get away with a satisfying dinner for about 2,000 yen. Also, one of the good things about this place is that it serves cheap yakiniku don lunch bowls for about 500-600 yen!

Gyukaku

Gyukaku is at a 2 minute walk from the Takadanobaba Station. It's a pretty big restaurant, and there are tatami seats available so you get a nice traditional Japanese dining experience. There are all-you-can-eat courses for 3,000-4,000 yen. You can also get a black Japanese assortment plate of 5 meat types for 1,659 yen. That's a great deal for the quality you get! Another particularity here are those little aluminum plates that serve for boiling/grilling dishes. Get yourself some garlic cloves and try them grilled that way in a sauce. Eating whole garlic cloves is popular in Korea.

Kurokawasei Nikuten

Kurokawasei is located at a 1 minute walk from the Nishiwaseda Station or a 7 minute walk from the Takadanobaba Station. This place has surprisingly cheap wagyu set meals that are about 1,000 yen during the day and the price doesn't change for dinner! With 140 grams of wagyu meat, you get a bowl of rice, salad, kimchi, soup and namul (korean seasoned veggetables). That's a really nice deal! You can also get all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink courses for 3,000-4,000 yen.
