Sushi Zanmai (すしざんまい)

Sushi Zanmai is a famous sushi restaurant chain in Japan that is based in Tsukiji, the biggest fish market in Tokyo. They have 42 branches in Tokyo, and some in other areas like Osaka and Hokkaido. Most of them are open 24 hours, so you can eat sushi whenever you want.
You could try going to the first-opened shop, Sushizanmai Tsukijiekimae.
Sushi Zanmai is owned by a very famous person, Kiyoshi Kimura, or "Tuna King". He spends a lot of money on winning big and high-quality tuna at the fish auction in Tsukiji, and holds carving shows in front of the audience. He has paid about 155 million yen for a bluefin tuna before.

Sushi bar style or conveyor belt sushi

There are two types of restaurants. Most of the branches, including the first shop in Tsukiji are sushi bar style where you either get counter seats or table seats and order to the staff. If you get a counter seat, you can enjoy watching the chefs making sushi right before your eyes.

Many of them offer nice large rooms for a big group of people. If you're looking for a great place to have a delicious meal with a group, this is a great option. And sushi is a real crowd-pleaser!

A few shops are kaiten sushi or also know as conveyor belt sushi. You can pick up plates of your favourite sushi from the conveyor belt which runs throughout the restaurants.

Menu

You can order your favorite sushi one by one (98 yen~) or get a set meal (980 yen~). All the ingredients are very fresh and carefully selected by the chefs.

Must stop by Sushi Zanmai on your trip!

Sushi Zanmai in Tsukiji, or any other of their locations, is an awesome place to get sushi in Tokyo (and even in Japan). It is very famous and popular in Japan, and you can try a variety of the freshest sushi while enjoying the atmosphere.
