Wondering where to eat in Shibuya? How about delicious yakiniku at a nice and hidden restaurant "Yakiniku Hachiyama"? Yakiniku Hachiyama (焼肉 鉢山)

Yakiniku Hachiyama is located 9 minutes walk from Shibuya station or 11 minutes walk from Daikanyama station. They don't have a big sign in the front, so be careful not to miss it.

Cheers!

We first got "Korai ninjin shu (高麗人参酒, liqueur made from carrots)" which was popular with the customers. It was sweet but slightly dry.

Starters

They served us a plate of 11 kinds of vegetable dishes as a starter. It looked colorful and beautiful, and also tasted great.

Couldn't help taking a pic.

Yakiniku time!

First, we tried the most popular menu "tanshio (タン塩)", salted beef tongue.

For the thick tanshio, the staff cooked it in front of our eyes on the table because it was difficult to cook perfectly. The tanshio was very tender and juicy.

You grill the thinly sliced tanshio by yourself. They use a special grill pan that is different from the ones in other yakiniku restaurants. It doesn't brown meats nor make smoke, so it was more like roasting then grilling.

Then, we got "harami (ハラミ, outside skirt)" and "karubi (カルビ, boneless short rib)".

Just a bite, and it melts in your mouth. The dipping sauce was sweet and savory, which made the meat even more delicious.

Side menu

"Hachiyama salad"
Simple, yet delicious dressing. It also went well with the meat.

"Komutan soup (コムタンスープ)"
Vegetables and beef were simmered that made the light soup flavorful.

"Tonyu reimen (豆乳冷麺, noodles with soy milk soup)"
Noodles were nicely thin and chewy. The soy milk based soup was rich and creamy, and the spicy kimuchi topping added a kick.

Try Yakiniku Hachiyama!
